Family Day Message

Posted : Feb-15-2026

Prayerful and grace filled greetings to all members of our parish family and to their family in particular.

Family Day is more than just a long weekend—it’s a beautiful reminder of the gift of family, in all its forms. Whether it’s our parents and siblings, our extended relatives, or the friends who have become like family, this day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the love and connection that shape our lives.

As Catholics, we recognize that family is a reflection of God’s love. We have to meditate the persons of the Holy Family— Jesus, Mary, and Joseph that serves as a model of faith, devotion, and support. But family isn’t always defined by blood. Many of us find deep bonds in our chosen families, the people who walk beside us in life’s journey. No matter what our families look like, Family Day invites us to cherish and nurture these relationships.

The family is the original cell of social life. It is the natural society in which husband and wife are called to give themselves in love and in the gift of life. Authority, stability, and a life of relationships within the family constitute the foundations for freedom, security, and fraternity within society. The family is the community in which, from childhood, one can learn moral values, begin to honor God, and make good use of freedom. Family life is an initiation into life in society. Family Day is a reminder that we are never alone. God places people in our lives—whether by birth or by choice—to support, encourage, and love us. This year, let’s take time to honour and celebrate the people who make up our family, thanking God for the gift of relationships that bring joy, strength, and faith into our lives.
