Message for May

已发布 : May-06-2026

Dear Parishioners,

As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, we give thanks for the mothers and mother figures who have shaped our lives with love, faith, and sacrifice.  In a special way, we also remember the Blessed Mother, whose “yes” to God continues to inspire us to respond faithfully to our own calling.

This call to say “yes” is at the heart of priesthood. Many times, I am asked, “Why did you become a priest?”

For me, priesthood is both a gift and a mystery. It is a gift freely given by God, and a mystery because only He truly understands why He calls us, even with our weaknesses.

The life of a priest is not easy. It is a sharing in the paschal mystery-embracing both the joys and the sufferings of Christ. There are challenges, criticisms, and trials, but also deep moments of grace, hope, and fulfillment in serving God’s people.

Despite this, priesthood remains my greatest joy. It is humbling to know that Christ uses my hands and voice to bring His presence and mercy to others, especially through the celebration of the Mass and the Sacraments. In these moments, we are reminded that God is close to His people.

As I mark twenty-five years of priesthood, I am filled with gratitude. Every person and community I have encountered has shaped my journey. Through it all, the Lord has been faithful.

On this Mother’s Day, as we honor our mothers and the Blessed Mother, may we also be inspired to say “yes” to God in our own lives, trusting in His grace and guidance.

Sincerely,
Fr. Fernan Serrano
